Thai Airways, Perth
The Thai Airways office is the office of Thailand’s major airline.
Issues and Challenges
Working closely with the interior design firm Smith-Madden, Diverse Shopfitters were approached to construct and implement a fitout for the Perth-based office of Thai Airways. Once of the most challenging aspects of the project was to satisfy the client’s brief to create a feature that was both appealing and originally. In order to complete the client’s project, work had to be undertaken outside of normal working hours and with limited physical access to the site. Finally, all works had to be approved by the Thai Airways head office in Hong Kong.
Solution
Diverse’s most striking solution was to integrate a new commercial product called Bas Relief (by Corian) into the feature wall panels. Bas Relief is a material that cannot be easily cut and joined due to it's texture and composition. Bas Relief had not been used in Western Australia before and many challenges arose at the fabrication stage. Diverse Shopfitters project management skills were used to facilitate a smooth and effective changeover to the new outlet. Due to the limited access, each item had to be fabricated into one piece to allow effective transport of materials.
Benefits
Several noteworthy benefits were delivered through the project. The primary benefit is the striking aesthetic appearance of the fitout. The use of this unique material creates a welcoming, yet striking impact for customers and passers-by. Within the bounds of corporate branding restrictions, a truly unique and innovative approach was delivered.
Diverse Shopfitters were very easy to work with and their service was excellent. The service was commercially focused, professional and of a very standard. The use of the Corian feature walls applied to the product resulted in an interesting and appealing fitout.
