‘High fashion meets cutting-edge design’

Marmalade Fashion is a well-known ladies’ fashion retail store located in the trendy Perth suburb of Subiaco. The client presented with no plans and only four weeks including council approval to open for trading.

Issues and Challenges

This project was one of Diverse Shopfitters’ most challenging assignments. The client presented with no plans and only four weeks including council approval to open for trading. The challenge was exacerbated by budget constraints. Diverse Shopfitters met with Hootan Golestani (a local architecture firm) and the client to develop a solution within the timeframe. With the brand’s reputation, the client needed a fit out solution as unique and creative as its clothing designs. The challenge was exacerbated by the location of the shop in a heritage-listed building. After the architects developed schematic designs, Diverse Shopfitters created the designs and elevations required to commence installation.

Solution

Diverse Shopfitters overcame the time constraints by taking the designers concept design and producing the construction drawings in house.  This process involved selecting finishes and materials to give the required finish within the budget constraints. We were also able to start construction as the drawings were being completed. Diverse Shopfitters project-managed the council approval process to speed the process. The saw-tooth displays were designed to match perforated ceiling panels, to marry up on both sides. The Replik8 template system was used to set out the zigzag walls and change rooms as well as the perforated wall and ceiling panels.  This allowed sub trades to start installing the ceiling panels on site with the templates in situ whilst Diverse Shopfitters was still manufacturing the cabinets and display units. The store was open on time and on budget and the client won a design award for the fit out.

Benefits

This unique design allowed for the innovative display of clothing items, whilst allowing for efficient workflow. Using the Fast-track template system, Diverse Shopfitters was able to complete an 8 week project in 4 weeks. This allowed Marmalade Fashions to open in time for the Subiaco Fair in June, one of the busiest trading periods of the year in the suburb.
