An artistic solution to a challenging problem

Framers’ Mill is a franchised picture-framing store provides a custom framing and block-mounting service and supply fine art prints and posters.

This fit-out had a number of challenges, including the supply of materials that were hard to source and a very restricted time-frame to design, manufacture and install the solution.

Issues and Challenges

After completing the interior fit-out for the Framers’ Mill outlet in Innaloo, Diverse Shopfitters were commissioned to undertake this project. This fit-out had a number of challenges, including the supply of materials that were hard to source and a very restricted time-frame to design, manufacture and install the solution. The original layout had no staff facility and this was solved by developing a facility behind the main counter. The difficulty of this project was compounded by the lack of rear walls in the retail site when creating and installing the fit-out. An unforeseen hold-up with the arrival of the rear walls shortened the deadline by one week. Diverse Shopfitters were still able to complete the project on time and within the client’s budget.

Solution

In order to complete the project on time, a comprehensive Scope of Works and timeline was agreed with the client at the start of the process. Once the scope was signed off, the standard items were manufactured, while other materials were ordered in. The angled, glazed fixtures gave the store a striking appearance, yet were still highly functional. All fixture items were fitted out around rear walls and the installers had to workshop from the shopfront area (at the front of the store) to the back of the store while waiting for the rear walls to arrive.

Benefits

Diverse Shopfitters’ flexible approach to problem-solving allowed them to complete the project on time, despite the unexpected hold-up. The design process took into account the special needs of the client and complied with the store’s and the shopping centre’s presentation guidelines. The result was an aesthetically pleasing and inviting retail presence which was highly functional.
