Amcal Inglewood

Amcal Inglewood is a pharmacy and lottery outlet located in a busy shopping centre in Inglewood, Perth.  Diverse Shopfitters employed its unique Replik8 system in order to meet the tight deadlines for the project. Bulkheads and floor templates of varying shapes and sizes were designed.

Issues and Challenges


The business underwent a major renovation and its retail presence was extended by 100m2. Diverse Shopfitters was one of three suppliers invited to tender for the interior fit-out of the project. After a successful application, the staff of Diverse Shopfitters went about the challenge of providing and scheduling a solution that would cause the least disruption possible with optimal results. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was to combine the reuse of 50% of existing fixtures with new fixtures. Another challenge was that the owner of the outlet needed to continue trading in the ‘old’ area of the store during the installation. A strict timeline of three weeks and limited budget was set for the project.

Solution

Diverse Shopfitters employed its unique Replik8 system in order to meet the tight deadlines for the project. Bulkheads and floor templates of varying shapes and sizes were designed. At the same time, partial floor templates using the Replik8 templating system were implemented over the floor coverings in order to indicate the correct positioning of bulkheads and fixtures. Fixtures and bulkheads were designed and manufactured at the same time.

During the second stage of the project, floor coverings were laid out and the sub-trades and electricians worked around the templates. The Gyprock bulkheads were assembled on the floor of the premises and lifted to the ceiling, hung from supports and installed over existing fittings. The existing coverings and stock were relocated to the area of the outlet that was not being refurbished. This caused minimal disruption and the outlet was able to continue operating normally during the design and installation process. The Diverse Shopfitters team had to work closely with the staff and management of Amcal Inglewood to facilitate this process.

Benefits

A number of benefits for Amcal Inglewood resulted from this project. Normal practice would be to close down the store during major renovations. This has a direct impact on turnover, particularly in a retail operation. However, Diverse Shopfitters’ unique templating system resulted in minimal interruptions and it was ‘business as usual’ during the installation process. This allowed Amcal Inglewood to continue trading profitably as the new fit-out was installed and facilitated an easy transition to the finished fit-out.

 

Diverse Shopfitters have completed two refits for the pharmacy. I was so happy with the outcome of the first project; I decided to redo the dispensary. The project management, service and cabinet work were all excellent. The planning was very well organised and on time and we were able to trade very quickly after both refits.
