Issues and Challenges

Diverse Shopfitters were invited to fit-out the Jesters Pies outlet in Gosnells, Perth. Several key challenges arose during the project. Firstly, timing was critical as the store-owner had a set opening date to work towards. Secondly, the current premises was classified as a Category 3 by the council and needed to meet a number of stringent criteria in order to achieve Category 1 approval. Category 1 allows the premises to operate a full cooking facility. This involves appropriate tiling, exhaust fans, air-conditioning and food preparation and service area layouts. The signage for the store had to comply with the restrictions of both the landlord and the council. Finally, due to the expense of meeting the Category 1 guidelines, the store-owner had a restricted budget for the fit-out.

Solution

Diverse Shopfitters managed the communication and approval process with the local council. This also included assistance with all notifications from the council. Diverse Shopfitters’ specialist knowledge of the process helped to facilitate speedy approval of the application for a Category 3 classification. The design and installation of the fit-out complied with all the necessary Health and Safety Regulations. The signage was printed on vinyl, with a matching facia sign and awnings.

Features such as the centre dividing walls were designed to maximise the effectiveness of the layout for workflow and aesthetic purposes. All fixtures were manufactured with high quality products and finishes to ensure durability and minimal maintenance issues. This fit-out was delivered on time and significantly under the client’s projected budget.
